Artist Bio

The above four rooms were painted during quarantine using bright colours with surrealist elements. I wanted to show how inspiration can be found anywhere even within our own four walls, that the everyday can be reimagined endlessly. I am a tourist wishing to escape daily life. By taking objects around me and working on a series of large scale still lifes reimagined in bright bold näive colours I would like to convey the simple beauty of the objects around us. 2020 provided for better or for worse a necessity to find new sources of inspiration under limited surroundings. To accept the unknown and to fully give oneself over to something bigger than ourselves by embracing the new order of things. A key change is the greatly reduced physical contact, which for some artists may have already been a pre-corona problem. It is well known that creative practices can often be a solitary profession, as well as having people that are more prone to melancholy than in other sectors. In an age where travel and work is available for most people regardless of education and wealth, many artists find themselves in different cities and especially in Berlin, different countries. What psychological effect do the corona virus travel bans have on the international artist community, a strictly enforced separation from family and compatriots. On the reverse side, do the restrictions help the artist slow down , forced without distraction to look at themselves, their practice and come out the other side stronger and refreshed?
