Title: "E DAÍ?" (SO WHAT?)
Technique: video-performance
Dimensions: 1080 X 1920 px
"So what? What do you want me to do? My name is Messiah but I don't do miracles." That was the answer given by Brazil’s President Jair Bolsonaro after being asked by a journalist about the daily record of deaths from coronavirus in Brazil (that day Brazil was 474 deaths record).

This performance is a way of sublimation. I wash my hands compulsively, in growing desperation, in an unsuccessful attempt to clean the blood that comes out of the bottle instead of the soap.

This work is a response to this absurdity that clearly shows the necropolitics of Bolsonaro's government. While he says "so what", thousands of people die.

There is blood on the hands of this government, blood from the health crisis we are facing, blood from women victims of domestic violence, blood from child abuse victims whose homes turn into captivity, blood from the black and LGBT population, blood from the working class. Jair Bolsonaro, his family and his government simply wash their hands carefully to hide evidence.
This performance is also my body’s reaction to social isolation, which leaves us at the mercy of media bombardment, causing anguish and sadness over the uncertainties about the virus and Brazil's political crisis.

I made “SO WHAT?” with an LG K10's cellphone camera, with no edition, in the bathroom that we isolate here at home, used when we come back from the street: we shower, then we wash the bathroom with chlorine and water. We put the clothes into the wash machine which is basically in front of the bathroom's door.
